Seeburg M100A Truobles Need Help!

When I put a coin in make a selection hear a click from the back and it will not scan or raise the pin in the pin bank but when I move one of the pins in the pin bank say a1 the record arm will raise up and play a record at the other end the mech will not move to the pin that I have raised. I have checked the plunger to make sure that it has pushed the pin under it back and it has but it will not scan to the next pin. If I hit the eject button on the back the record arm will go down and then back up to play the same record over and over. If I put all the pins back to center and hit the eject button the record arm will come down and come to rest and is about a inch up like its not going all the way down but I can bump the scan switch to make it go down. I have lubed and cleaned the mech and contacts the only thing I have not done is taken the pinbank part and cleaned it could this be the problem. The only way I can get the mech to scan is in rest mode is to flip the safety switch on the mech near the clutch but after it plays a record it resets and I'm back to the mech not scanning and the record arm going up and down when I eject it please help me out my hair is getting thin Thanks guys for your help.

First of all, I HOPE that your A never "ejects" a record !--That would be one heck of a mess ! I have never seen an A do that--but I have seen later 45rpm models do it--
Sounds as if you have multiple problems here. Also sounds as if the are all "ground related".
Do you have a Seeburg Service Manual ? If so check all grounds between the ES/mech./and WSR.
Check that the latch bar solenoid has a ground from the ground side terminal strip, to the metal casting-these often are broken. I assume the "select lamp" is not lit ?
Please use terms in the Service manual--
I also suggest that although I did not "cover" the model A in my Seeburg Mechanism Guide, it should be helpful, as the operation is the same on a 45 rpm, pinbank phono. (PM me if you wish to purchase it).

I have checked all grounds it's like it's stuck in play mode and when I add credit the select light is on and when I make 6 selections the light goes out and when I make a selection nothing happens to the pin bank

Should I rebuild the pinbank?

Yes-no--depends on if the SAU is bad--didja check the 2 A SB fuse ? Didja check the ES?, Didja check the CCU ? I would do those first--

Hi Ron first I just want to say thank you I've got it to scan the safety switch was sticking that was causing the repeat play got that . Just can't get it to make a selection using the ES I still have to move the pins by hand ccu resets 2 fuse is good my head hurts is there anything I can try

Look at the SAU, when you make a selection--is the group relay energizing ?
If not, check the CCU--and the one ohm resistor attached to the bottom. If it is firing, check the circuit in the contacts in the CCU, ES and plugs--you can plug the ES and SA unit directly together on that model--( if you are not using the stepper).Ron Rich

Ron it seems to be dirt in the push buttons and found a bad ground on the pinbank do you know of a easy way to clean the push button contacts. Thanks and I think I'm going to have to go into the pinbank and clean it it's very dirty

I clean the ES as follows:
Remove it from the cabinet--remove any "glass" that's attached, remove the latch-bar solenoid, ( and meters, if so equipped), spray ammonia into it, let it soak, and rinse out. Best done outside, on a hot day! Repeat, if needed-- Ron Rich

I got the pin bank apart and cleaned and what a job. It took me all day but it selects like it should . Ron thank you for your help on that. Now I'm going to move onto the cradle and tone arm issues it's just all out of adjustment

Ron, Just when everything was looking good and moving forward. The jukebox reaches out and smacks me across the face and says "not so fast I have a few more riddles for you." If I can get past this everything else looks good. Its the allignment of the tonearm and weight I have tried everything that I know of and need some fresh eyes . The box has been converted from 78 play to 45 and has a pickering cartridge with offset bracket.When the record goes in it seems to want to eat the record .can someone please tell me how to make these adjustments. I have been trying for a week and no luck. Thanks

If you asking me, Ron Rich, that question, sorry, I have never done anything to a "converted" A mech.
Hopefully someone else will "chime in"--If not, and you know which "conversion kit" was used, you might check www.flippers.com as John has posted the instructions for two different brands there-- Ron Rich

Ron, I have got the balance of the pick up arm I think. So I have moved to the next issue. When I play a record it sounds very bad thought it was the cartridge but its not . I think it might be the amp the reason I think that I can run my pick up wires to a working seeburg jukebox and play it thru that amp and it sounds good. Guess what I'm asking should I recap the amp do you think that will fix the issue? I have never recaped a amp before s it very hard? I have seen some kits on eBay or is there something I should try first I have cleaned all connections. Thanks terry
