I could really use some help with this thing. I recently purchased this console for $30. I'm having trouble finding a needle for it, the one in it works fine but i would like to replace it. The cartridge says to replace it with a 142-92 or 142-93. I can not age this unit either. I have been trying to internet search for this unit have not come up with anything. I found on the back it does say model SF119R. and i think the chasis is 5B023. I would like to find a owner's / service manual on it and no luck. Also the tubes seem great but would like to replace and keep these as spares. If anyone has information about this unit it would be great appreciated. Thanks

Your set dates to 1959. Looks like you got one of them snakeheads. I have just the record player from some other model. I plan on getting it working sometime. You need the yellow Cobra cartridge Zenith 142-72 for an all-purpose replacement. According to SAMS data Astatic 13-TB will do. I'm a little upset in that I bought a 13-TB thinking I was getting it all cartridge and needle. I missed the fine print, only got the mounting bracket but in an Astatic Box with 13-TB. So watch out. I don't have enough phono data to speak to other equivants. Since your set is so old I would expect you to have other problems like hum or perhaps noise from some tube. All the tubes in this set except the 5Y3 are somewhat expensive. The amplifier is mono but with a pair of EL84/6BQ5 tubes. Nice one. Manuals or service data other than SAMS Photofact are hard to come by. Once in awhile you might pick up an owners manual.

Actually, the player plays great, no hiss or other obstruct noises and I had it going for about 3 days now for a total of about 6 hours of listening while surfing internet. I could send some pics if someone could give me more info

But thanks a bunch[/img]
