Varnish coils?

by Raven65 » Wed May 16, 2012 8:50 pm

This is a rockola 1426 coin mech.

The insulation tape around one of the solenoid
Coils has finally come off completly. Should I brush
On some varnish for protection before putting on new
Insulation tape?

Coil is working fine

Anyone know a good source for those little
Fine springs used in a coin mech?

Thanks

George

If there is doping on the coil, leave it as-is.

Whenever I have used a bit too much stripper in washing assemblies and start to see bare wire, after things are dry, I give it a shot of clear Krylon from about an inch away. When that dries give it one more.

With coils the insulation that counts is around the full diameter of the wire. So unless the coil is unwound and the wire redoped it really doesn't matter much. All that my efforts are for is to "freeze" the bare wires in position and prevent any more shorted turns than may have already happened.
