1963 Admiral 250 stereo console

by admiral_stereo250 » Sun Jan 18, 2009 1:29 am

Hello,

I just acquired a 1963 Admiral 250 Solid State stereo console. It was left on the side of the road with a sign on it that said "for free". the cabinet is in immaculate condition. All original. All parts are there. I pulled off the back panel to look at the date and I don't even think it was ever removed. The turn table is slow.. barely works. Some of the buttons stick a bit. The radio works fine and sounds amazing. The model numbers is Y6191, however I can't find any information on it on the web.

Does anyone know where I could find a manual? I need to make some repairs and thought it would help. or possibly a site with more information on the model?

thanks

I have the same model console but different year and have been searching for a manual but have also been unsuccessful. I've been keeping an eye out on ebay for something but keep coming up with ads and no manuals. Here's an ad for a 1963 Admiral console that you may be interested in (it's been there for awhile and I keep hoping to see mine...I believe mine is 1965): http://cgi.ebay.com/1963-ADMIRAL-250-Watt-Solid-State-Stereo-Console-Ad_W0QQitemZ380102445691QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116. Good luck!

Hey Folks:

Admiral Model Y6141 is Sams Photofact Folder #702-5
Admiral Model Y6191 is Sams Photofact Folder #733-6

Checking some of my old paperwork (still unpacking the workroom), I found an invoice from 2002 where I ordered 8 Sams folders...I didn't like the price @ 25.00 each, but they are invaluable and cover many similar models.

My invoice says "WEB ORDER", but there's no website listed. Anyhoo, the company is:

SAMS Technical Publishing
P.O. Box 681008
Indianapolis, IN 46268

I'm sure you can do the Google thing and find it. I also got their Annual Index (CD) which lists thousands of amps/receivers/turntables, etc., which is where I just found your models.

There is also another company, A.G. Tannenbaum, which carries owners/service manuals. I don't know if they're still in existence, but you can give them a shot, too. They may deal with some of the newer stuff from the 70's and 80's. I did get manuals for my Pioneer, Kenwood and Sherwood amps from them.

Best of luck and don't give up. --BB

You can order them on a CD instead, for a much lower price.
