Pathephone Model 125?

by adrian78m » Wed Aug 20, 2014 9:20 pm

Hello all.

I just acquired a Pathephone Model 125 standing phonograph. Pictures are attached. I have not been able to find any info online this model that matches what I have. I found an old ad that shows a model 125, but it looks nothing like what I have. Is it really the model it purports to be? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Adrian

Does it say "Pathepone" or "Pathephonic"? If it says Pathephone, then it might have been fitted with an older style ID plate at the factory.

What you have is a Pathephonic model 125. These were manufactured, circa 1926-1927, and were designed to play the recently introduced (1925) electrically recorded records with greater fidelity than the old models. They were fitted with longer (exponential style) horns and sound boxes equipped with more flexible aluminum diaphragms, instead of mica.

Here's another Pathephonic Model 125 mentioned in a post in the Talking Machine Forum --

Thank you! Yes, it does say Pathephonic Model 125. Are the serial numbers sequential? I wonder what the number range is, since mine is serial number 1234.
