seeburg 1970 golden jet will not take selections

by 1johtaja » Wed Apr 13, 2016 6:11 pm

Hi folks!

Please help a novice.... got me old jukebox..- now changed stylus and worked once fine but suddenly won´t take any selections...no "click" when pushing buttons (it has been modified so that no money needed = you push added button once = one selection) ... so it seems that nothing happens/no connect to somewhere....so motor does not move because it does not connect???? Any suggestions?? Seeburg golden jet 1970... In Finland there´s no service available so any help is more than wellcome.. Best wishes, Kari

Hi Kari,
Hard to say--Do you have the Service Manual ?? If not, they are available from several sources listed in this section above this post.
You will need to trouble shoot the pricing unit--I have no idea what has been done, bu I suspect that the "push button" added has been spliced to the coin wires--perhaps the button is bad, or the splice is bad ? OR--if someone "held" that push-button too long, you have burned out the add coil ?
It's also possible you have blown the 24 vac fuse--if so, do NOT replace it, until AFTER you locate, and repair the reason it blew--then replace it with a maximum 7.5 fast blow type ( May be a 15 amp now--way to large !!) Ron Rich

Hi - think also it might be fuse problem - where are these located? I pushed this added puh buttom burded the fuse for pushed it while machine was playing...thik that you may do this only after each song...and only one push = one song at the time... Can you help me to locate fuses? Thanks, Kari

You can NOT just change this fuse !--You MUST first determine why, it blew, and correct that problem before changing that fuse !
The 24 vac fuse is located in the "control center"-- Ron Rich

Hi - is it possible that this overdrive button / take over the coin system (or whatever it is) is made so that one is forbidden to push it while song is playing? I do not know how these are made when coins were turned off.....

This machine ha s been not working for years and need s oling - is it possible that is was a bit of jammed why the fuse went off?

Sorry mates, silly questions but a simple man too.....

Hard to tell--I doubt it though--you should be able to push the added free play button at anytime, EXCEPT, while in the process of making a selection, without any adverse consequences. Since you have a SPU type unit, the button will only trigger the amount of credits that would be triggered by whichever coin that button was attached to. Ron Rich
