Rock-ola 490-2 keyboard dead

by toomer7074 » Sun Sep 25, 2011 6:51 pm

Hello all. I bought a rock-ola 490-2 at auction last weekend. It worked great at auction and is on freeplay. The wiring harness to the coinswitch was unpluged. I got it home and pluged it in and it came on fine and I started loading records in it. After a few minutes the keyboard was dead, the mechanism scan switch and the flashing lights quit. I turned it off and cleaned all the wiring harnesses on the system control unit and the keyboard assembly with contact cleaner and a pencil eraser to no avail. When I power it up now the standard pricing and initalizing/lock in lights come on on the control unit but this is as far as it will go. I'm not sure what to do next. Are there any circuit breakers or fuses that mey be tripped or blown that may cause this to happen. The jukebox plug has the groung prong removed also. I used to get a very light electrical tinge whn I touched the scan switch but this doesnt happen since the jukebox quit. I have the service manual but it doesnt have any troubshooting tips. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Look for a "blown fuse" on, and INSIDE of the power supply--be sure not to "overfuse" it !

Hi Ron I checked all six fuses on and in the power supply and they all check out good with an ohmeter. There are four voltage indicator lights on the power distrubution supply and the one marked -28vdc id dimly lit where the others are brighter. Thanks for your reply

Hello All. I just took the system control unit out of the box, disassembled it and put it back together and put it back inthe box and it now functions. Thanks again for the help.
