I need Some Help to Identify this 1970s tape deck.

The belt on this Sharp deck has stretched. So it will play but won't wind or rewind. Although I rarely use it, I might as well have it in working order. I could measure it by looping a bit of string round the pulley wheels and deducting 10% or whatever to get the size, but if I knew the number, I could get exactly the right belt as I did for the similarly aged Philips turntable to the right of it, a couple of years ago. I've had it from new and there's no model number on it.

Well a simple search shows this:

Thanks for that Rob, it's something similar but not quite the same.
I guess it's "simple" to find anything if you know exactly where to look.

It wasn't as if I hadn't tried.

"Dog" my point is that if the external controls look the same there is a strong likelyhood that the internals mech is similar.

So, if that search tuns up a pic of an RD-423U, another search tuns up a suggested belt:

In this sort of case, I'll also measure.

Hi Rob, I found it is a variant of a 423, so I expect the belts will all be the same, anyway I've placed an order.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Bob.

I did a little more checking on the radiomuseum site and came up with this, which to my untrained eyes, looks just like the one you have:
