45rpm "joke" Christmas Record

by Ron Rich » Wed Oct 07, 2009 7:52 am

Hi All,
For years, I have been installing a "joke" Christmas record into my 12 wallbox system here in a local "fun" Ristorante. This is an Italian food based family "dinner house". I have been using "Jingle Bells" by the Singing (Barking) Dogs, and of course always get a "ton" of "complaints" about it. This year I'd like to replace that record with something else, and I'm looking for both suggestions, and , of course, to buy the record---I'm thinking along the lines of a "Spike Jones" type record--Any suggestions ?? Thanks, Ron Rich

Hi Ron,

I know that the "Fairytale of New York" by the Pogues is liked by many people but it always makes me cringe more so if you see the video.

I am glad we got out of the operation of machines a good few years ago.
Planning what records to put on for Christmas was a pain weeks before you were in the mood for the holiday.

Regards
Alan

If you have an original "Jingle Bell Rock" by Bobby Helms, turn it over. He did "Captain Santa Claus" on the flip side.

Thanks Record changer---but that; the beauty of a "jukebox"--I don't need to turn it over as the machine plays both sides on demand ! ( I do have it somewhere--thanks, I'll probably take out Brenda Lee's version and use his instead---if I'm not to lazy to retype title strips---) Ron Rich

I suggest "Grandma Got Ran Over By A Reindeer" by Elmo and Patsy, I believe. That'll get some complaints I'm sure!

Thanks for the "suggestion"--it's been on the playlist for ten or so years--NEVER had one "complaint" (to me, anyway)--got a copy of "My Two Front Teeth" by Spike Jones--that should do it, along with the "note" that I will post under the(locked) jukebox dome, stating that the "Singing Dogs, Jingle Bells" will not be available this year "due to incessant staff "whining"---" This should generate enough "heat" upon me (for this year) !!
