Packard Bell Tuntable/Stereo

by TheLadyFreedom » Mon Jan 16, 2012 11:05 pm

I have an RP 39 unit in working condition. Outside is not beat up at all, the wood is in great condition. We are in Whittier CA, $60, you haul away.
Please email me if you want pictures, I can send them. dawn@dawnMbrown.com

I hate to say this but unless a full restoration's been done to this console, the asking price is a tad too high.
Be more realistic and ask $60, you might get more takers.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.

Consider the fact that someone knowledgable who'd purchase these things would then opt for it to get an electronic restoration to be reliable and safe. - working condition or not.
That in itself would cost in excess of 200 bucks or more, depending on what needs to be done.

Wow! It could really cost that much just to get the electrics safe! I wish I could find someone here in California that restores them. I would even turn loose for $50 if someone would come pick it up.

You seem surprised at the costs involved regarding restorations.
Remember, this is 2012, Cost of Living is different than in 1968, as well as having to service something 40+ years old as opposed to something 6 years old.
In 1968 it might have needed a $2.49 needle, maybe a $2.79 drive wheel for the record changer.
Those same parts cost ME today close to $50.
A $.17 capacitor in 1968 now costs $3.20 - and now that set requires them ALL to be replaced due to aging.
