Rock-Ola 470 Read Out Problem

by Torin » Mon May 19, 2014 4:19 pm

New to the forum here and just got a Rockola 470. The jukebox was dead when I got it but I found 4 blown fuses which I relplaced and it now almost works perfectly. However, it will not deselect the track played on the A side. The solenoid does not fire. I have verified the coil is good and verified the micro switches work. I took the read out arm off and cleaned the contacts and the ring contacts and also verified that the solder connections are solid. The B side works great.

I followed the wires up to the relay near the coin acceptor and it looks like the relay is firing the way it should. I'm not sure if the relay is wired correctly but assume it is because the B side is working as it should.

I'm really at a standstill here. I'm not sure what to check next. Could it be the A-B switch? Is there a diode or cap that controls the solenoid? Any help is much appreciated.

Hi
It is possible that the snap switch is not switching over from b side to a side.
Watch the action of this during operation. I seen this recently on a rockola, look at the large cam/cog beside the record basket on the right side of it beside the gripper. Look at the tracks and see if it switches between a and b. It might not be switching tracks and needs cleaning and lubrication

Torin, Clones,
My thinking would be that a contact on the A/B switch is failing--not the whole switch, itself, as, if that were the case, it could not change sides to pick the A sides--Check the schematic--- Ron Rich

Ok, thanks guys. I have concentrated on everything else except the A-B switch. Luckily, my Rockola came with a full set of manuals and schematics. I'll give that a closer look and report back. Thanks! I'm glad I found this forum. Very cool.
