Jukebox speakers

I have some Rowe CD jukebox model C's, D's & F's that could use some new woofer speakers. Other than my Rowe dealer, are there any good sources for woofer speaker replacements? I have some external speaker boxes that could use woofer replacements also. Are these jukebox speakers "special", or do I just need to match the ohm's numbers on the magnet?

I would re-cone them rather then replace them--if you had listed your location in your profile, I, or someone near you may have been able to refer you to a re-coner, that has done a good job-- Ron Rich

I totally agree with Ron get your speakers repaired.
You may find the cones and voice coils are ok and it is just the foam surround that has rotted, if this is the case then there are a number of foam kits that you can purchase to do the job yourself or send them to a company to have it done.

I just re-foamed the 12" woofers and 6" midrange on my NSM Galaxy CD box and it sounds awesome!

I used these people: http://www.wooferrepair.com

The kit comes with a pair of replacement foam surrounds, glue, brush, Q-tips, cone shims, dust caps, AND a DVD to show you how to do it. I have no financial relationship with them, just a satisfied and repeat customer.

The site that Jim has listed looks alright, there are a few on Ebay.
You do have to measure the profile of the surround to make sure that it will fit your speaker, most are ok. When you get on the sites just check all of the measurments with your surrounds.

I agree the results are very good.

I do agree with the suggestion that the woofers be refoamed if at all possible. That is a bass-ported enclosure and speaker characteristics are more important than they would be on a simple sealed box (acoustic suspension).

The one speaker change I made on the three Rowe CD machine I had out was to replace the crappy sounding piezo tweeters with Pyle D358 dome tweeters. These are highly efficient 1" domes and they really made the highs much more transparent -even with that rather hard, PA type amp Rowe uses. One note is that you will need to add a second-order (12 db/octave) filter is you use them in these machines. The mounting flanges are plastic and easily redrilled to mount in the same holes as the piezos.

I don't know if the D358 is still available, I used them on all my installations including ceiling speakers during the 1990's. If not, there should be something similar available in the high-end car audio lines.
