Seeburg DS160 Latch?

by lordp2 » Fri Mar 18, 2011 11:50 pm

I have a DS160 which has worked well for a number of years. I know nothing about it, but I am relatively technically minded. The fault is that when you put a coin in, the 'Make selection' lights and you can press a letter and number, but both buttons 'latch' and don't release. Therefore the selection is not made. The fault occured for no apparant reason, after the jukjebox had not been used for a few weeks, it also got cold during our Winter months. Any help greatly appreciated

Open the USPU-1, and replace the 1.6 amp slo blo fuse--Use NOTHING larger ! If it continues to blow, check DC voltage to timing relay ("25"vdc when not energized, up to 40 when energized) and contact points on relay) Ron Rich

Hi Ron

Thanks for the prompt and knowlesgable reply. I'm sorry, but what is the USPU-1, is it the universal pricing unit, where the coins go through? Is the fuse a 20mm or a 30mm, so I can buy one before I start to dismantle.

When I bought the jukebox, I got a manual nad fault finding guide, do you sell any other guides which might be more helpful to a beginner please?

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul,
Yes--Universal Single Pricing Unit--But it's not "where the coins go--" Look at the Service Manual for location of components--
Fuse is a Buss brand MDL 1.6 amp, or Littlefuse brand 313, 1.6 amp--Remove the USPU from the phono, remove the cover from the USPU, and you will see two fuses in "snap-in" holders--the other one should be either a MDL/313-1/2amp or better yet, 4/10 amp.
Yes--I sell a "Seeburg Mechanism Guide" that I wrote, and I hope is helpful---- contact me off forum if interested-- ronnnrich@yahoo.com
