Seeburg SCCD

by mb9513 » Wed Aug 12, 2015 6:42 am

Hi all: have possibility to get SCCD bubbler. and it does have the Sony mechanism. A few questions. Are all of the Sony mechs used in this jukes made of unobtainium? Or is there some of late production that we can get replacement parts for? Is there a replacement mechanism made by someone else that can be retrofitted? Normally I would not give one of these Seeburgs (in name only) a second glance. But it is a 1015 style bubbler. Am looking for your insights. Thanks Mark

Those sold Sony players had excellent sound but didn't hold up well under commercial service. The Rowe changer, once modded, was better.

You might consider this item: http://www.cdadapter.com/scd-mp3.htm But get assurance that it will work with that later computer.

Which "Seeburg" SCCD ? Several "Seeburgs" made that machine, in different versions--If for sure, it is equipped with the Sony player--yep--just about useless today--Early cabinets are great--Later cabinets are not as good, IMHO.
I retrofitted a whole Rowe system into one once--called it a "RoweburgliTzer". Worked well, and I think it's still running (least I have not been called to service it in awhile).

Jeebus, I'm glad those companies didn't merge.. I would NOT be able to say that, ever.
I'm strange.. I like 'Rock And Roll (Part 1) from Gary Glitter more than the more common (Part 2)..

On the SCCD-1 (1015 Repro) what does solid eights indicate on the CD selection window?

New question, anyone have any information regarding the motors that operate the color wheels on the Seeburg Bubbler Repro SCCD model?

Who was manufacturer, anyplace to get replacements, how many RPM and I assume you need one that turns right and one that turns left?

TIA

Best
Darrell

Hi Darrell,
There are several makers of that type motor. You will need to look at it to find out the RPM, if you wish to match it, or IMHO, a 3 RPM works well--yes, one turns CW, and the other CCW. There may be a maker's name, and part number on those motors. If not, just search for "synchronous motors". I think VicGlass sells ones that will work ?? Ron Rich

Ron

Thank you for guidance. This particular motor is not marked well at all. There is either a "M" or "W"(manufacturer?), 408243-02 A-619 (serial number?), 120VAC, 3W, 60-HZ, S, M004, R inside a circle and SA inside a circle.

The other motors I have seen are marked with the rpm and the brand name "Synchron" as well as the the VAC, W and HZ.

Will check with Denny at VG and I know Patrick at A-1 also has them for the AMI E-120.

Darrell,
You "can use" just about anything there, as long as it can be mounted, and what-ever drives the color cylinder will attach--Secret to KEEPING them running well is, 20 wt oil, at the joint of the shaft and bearing--never let it "go dry"-- Ron Rich

Hi guys: the next issue is the main board. we were going to mp3 it as suggested. but I discovered the PCM 2000 board is fried. it has an ic almost burned in half. from what I understand the original board was pcm 2x00. what boards will work? I have seen that many are pcm 1000 and that one works with the main keyboard and a aux service keyboard. this juke has no service keyboard. I am not sure if it will swap. If anyone knows a source for a good correct board PM me please.
the player itself responds to the test keyboard under the cover on the back. the turntable motor does not turn. what is the common problem with the cdk-006? I know that they are mostly junk. but was curious If replacing the motor, may be a simple fix. thanks Mark

From my investigation, they made a 1986 SCD-1, 1988 SCD-1A, 1989 SCD-1B, 1990 SCD-1C, 1991 SCD-1D, 1992 SCD-1F and 1994 SCCD-2 Classic(Bubbler Repro) which is the one we have. The phone control board is maker as a PCM 2000 and has a fried component. On one of the components is a sticker that reads "Seeburg SCD-1A (C)1987 5A". My guess is that this came out of the 1988 SCD-1A.

I hope someone will be able to advise what the proper board for the SCCD-2 Classic(Bubbler Repro) would be? Would it be possible that the correct board is the PCM1000? If the PCM2000 is the wrong board, that could be what fried the component?

Hi Darrell,
Good Luck ! Knowing the "sins committed" in those days, by the people calling themselves "Seeburg", I wonder if the parts will fit ??
Let us know how you make out ! Ron Rich

Ron

An SCCD-2 flyer on eBay indicates parts from the SCD-1A are interchangeable? The one we had lined up was sold , so looking for another
SCDA-1 parts box.

Will let you know how it works out.

Hi Darrell,
Well what can I say--knowing the "big man" behind the re-launching of Seeburg Phonograph Corp., and the fact that my folks demanded I never say anything about anyone, unless it was nice-- I have to say I liked him very much, and am convinced he could, and would, sell ice-cubes, in Alaska ! ( there wold be some type of legal disclaimer involved, however) Ron Rich
