Rowe JBM "Tropicana" Wallbox

by Retrophono » Sat Jul 12, 2014 5:46 am

Hi gang! Please point my nose in the right direction, thank you.

I wish to connect a WRA-200 to a Rowe JBM "Tropicana". I have the power supply, (PL-10A), the stepper, (the model number is not there, I presume there was a sticker on the frame, upper left, just above the bank of relays), it was together with the power supply, removed from a newer Rowe, model number escapes me now. Can this wallbox be fitted to this juke using these components?

Cheers, Steve

Steve, in the original "M" manual it shows a 33-pin Jones plug. If your stepper looks like this one:

It will not be directly connectable. Electrically it is similar enough but the plugs on both keyboard and search unit are different. the correct one is a CFA for AMI-Wurlitzer and Rocl-ola boxes, and a CFD for Seeburg. Thereafter Rowe went to the CGA which has a clear dome and taper pins to allow it to be configured for and pulse train. That model is in the pic I linked.

Can you post a shot of what you have?

Thank you Rob for the input. The one I have seems to be identical to what you've posted. If so, did you say that this might fit, not sure I read your post correctly???

Cheers, Steve

That is the CGA types that cane in with the "N" & later phonos. I have two in service in "N" hideaways.

Take look at the keyboard in your machine. The idea is that the keyboard cable normally runs from the keyboard directly to the search unit will plug into the stepper and it's plug will go into the search unit. Look at the plugs in your machine.

There is an outside chance that someone may have modded your machine to take a later stepper (as I did with an "L") otherwise the CGA is not directly useable.

Rob, thank you once again, I will follow up with that sage advise and post results as soon as results warrant.

Cheers, Steve
