RockOla 1000 update

by rockola1000 » Thu Feb 09, 2012 1:53 am

I just fixed my gripper assembly (it was missing the outer gear and would not release the record).
I also changed out the gripper motor (it had word teeth and would bog down).

The jukebox will not scan and will not select records.
If I manually turn the magazine motor so that it triggers the A/B switch, it will return to the home position under power.
It will also power the turntable at this point.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I should trouble shoot the electrical?
All of the fuses are good.

I turned the magazine gripper until the motor fired up.
I unplugged the motor before it could return to the home position.
I checked for power at the regulator and found 46 and 25 volts at the lead.
I plugged everything back in and rotated the gripper to the platter and played a record.
Then I cancelled the record, from the back, and the assembly returned the record to the magazine.

I ran the computer tests and they came back without errors.
when the magazine returns to the home position, it does not display any selection numbers as it is rotating. Shouldn't it flash the position of the magazine?
I am guessing I have a problem with the encoder or the computer.
standard pricing blinks on the display.

Today, I was able to view top hits, least played, and set pricing on the computer. The interface between the keypad and computer appears to be ok.
Any suggestions on what the problem might be?

Do you have the Service Manual--most of them show a "sequence of events" --follow it till it fails, and you should be able to find the reason-- Ron Rich

i have a service manual, but it has not been of much use in troubleshooting.
I have a print version from victory glass.

Do you have the "Service Manual" or just the "1000 supplement" ? I'm not sure but I think the correct manual for it is the 490-2. Might check with the sellers listed above in "announcements--where to find--", if you don't have one-- Ron Rich

It was basically a 490 service manual with a 1000 parts catalog.
