hmv 101-102?

i think to buy two portable phonographs, one is an hmv and the other one is a swiss made, as the seller mentions. now i have only the pictures of them. but is the one on the left, black one, a real hmv? i searched through internet for models of hmv. i found that there are lots of models. the closest models are hmv 101 and 102. is there anybody who can help me about the differences of 101 and 102? or can you tell me which model of an hmv it is? thanks. http://www.sahibinden.com/pls/sahibinde ... To the novice collector, many of the HMV portable models seem very similar in appearance, but there are some differences, which are especially noticeable if you compare them side by side.

For instance, the HMV 101 is equipped with a long, very thin, gradually tapering tone arm, and, of course the HMV #4 sound box, which has a large mica diaphragm. It also has a record storage compartment built into the (inside) lid.

In contrast, the later production HMV 102 has a fatter tone arm fitted with the #16, or the #5a or #5b sound box, depending on the year of production. These used aluminum diaphragms, instead of mica. In addition, there is no place to store the records in the HMV 102's lid. Instead, these were equipped with a round record storage tray that fitted onto the turntable.

There are many other differences between the two models. If you're curious, try to hunt down a copy of "The Perfect Portable" by Dave Cooper. (FYI -- http://www.biblio.com/books/102513868.html)

I just read through the old post about the Model 97, and noticed that Steve wrote that the inside should match the outside of the case.This may have changed somewhere along the line, because my 97 has a black cloth covering, but the inside of the lid (the large surface with the transfer) and the motor board are covered with a leather grained paper! I have a feeling it must be a fairly late one, as it has a bakelite needle holder.
