Magnavox magnasonic Series

I just inherited a Magnavox Magnasonic Series Solid State Stereo High Fidelity console. it is in really good condition. However I am having some issues with the record player and wanted some direction/advice from you guys... The Model number of the console is 2P3400. I have the operating instructions manual.

The record player did spin. I opened the back of the console and was going to take the record player out, but was only able to remove one tie down screw. I am sure i can get the clip off the other, i just didn't spend too much time on it. I manually spun the record player a bit when it was off to loosen it up. I read somewhere that the grease they use, if not used, can become stiff. when i turned the unit back on it started to spin. I am not 100% confident that it is spinning at the correct speed though. Anyway, the stylus is pretty beat and i could use a new one of those. I see from this board that ebay is a good place to get one. unfortunately, I am not sure what kind i am looking for. I haven't been able to find any information on my model at all.

Any help would be appreciated.

IMHO, eBay is probably the worst place to look, as most sellers have no idea what they have, or the "fitness" of it.
I have seen what would consider out right lies, on the subject of needles, and other things.
I would suggest that you might try www.needles4turntables.com, or if that won't work (cause I messed it up), www.needles4jukeboxes.com--same person, John will take care of you, if possible. Ron Rich

Thank you! I contacted those guys about the stylus.

I noticed another problem with the turntable, wehn i put a record on and move the balance arm over it, when i turn the knob to REJ to drop the record and start playing, the record doesn't drop. I took the record off and turned it to REJ and watched the part that should recess to allow the record to drop and it doesn't move. any ideas? are there any repair manuals out there?

Don't take the clips off. Rotate them 90 degrees, so they line up with the screw. Then they fit through the holes.

No part recesses to drop the record. The record pusher pushes the record sideways until it falls off a ledge.
