GE stereo console phonograph

I have a beautiful GE stereo console phonograph that was purchased in 1967... when I bought it, it had all of it's original papers (warranty,operation manual etc..) inside. It still works relatively well. The radio works and the turn table works but stylus arm needs repair. The body is really flawless for its age...the speaker cover fabric is deteriorating, however. If anyone has any comments, I would love an e-mail. I have pictures if anyone would like to see or make an offer or tell me what they think it's worth. Thanks!

When you say the stylus arm needs repair, does it not work mechanically or does it need a new needle? If it needs a new needle, Radio Shack still sells new ones online for GE stereos. Before you purchase a new needle, check to see if the stem that sticks out of the side of the arm shows that you're using the LP needle. Lots of GE stereos came from the factory with the needle set on the 78 side causing lots of people to wonder why their LP records skip. I like the old consoles. Most of them aren't really worth anything, though. I got a Magnavox console manufactured in Sept. 1967 at an auction complex. You could tell the original owner had still polished it regularly and it was in great shape. It was in the parking lot with the other box lots and no one bid on it. I wound up taking it. Had I not, it would have gone to the dump. It sits in my rec room with a DVD player connected to it. The turntable, radio and auxilary work great. Hope this helps with the value question as well as the arm/needle problem. My advice is if you enjoy it, keep it.
