Reconnecting the 5 prong plug in a Wurlitzer 2000

by NickDB » Sun Aug 09, 2015 1:38 pm

Hi,

the cable connecting the credit unit to the coin mechanism was cut on my system,
leaving nothing but a loose cable, taped in black tape to avoid contact.

I recently bought a 5 prong plug and matching socket (the female side) so that I can
reconnect the coin register mechanism with the coin grinder 5 plug (male).

What is the correct way of connecting the different colour coded wires ?
This is the only diagram I could find for Hammond organs, but the colour codes do not match.

The Wurlitzer (at least mine) has Red, Pink, Orange, Blue, Yellow

You will need to follow the wires, and compare to what the schematic says-- Ron Rich

Nick, on my old manual for the 2000 the pinout is:
#1=nickle
#2=Dime
3#=Quarter
#4= 50c
#5=Common.

Nick,
The drawing you posted has me confused--if this is a "coin switch plug", why the two AC's ?
If coin switch, I would assume what Rob posted to be correct-- Ron Rich

Ron, I think he just did a search for a "5 pin plug" and came up with one for a Hammond organ (Leslie cab?).

But its good that you mentioned it because he should look at the plug and see if the pins are nu,numbered the same way. No harm will be done if a mistake is made but the pricing will be fouled up.

Hi, yes I simply googled an image and that is basically the only one that I could find.

I unscrewed the male plug and found the same colour coded wires, and matched them on the female plug.
Not that it will work since a coil was cut from the credit unit mechanism, but I'm slowly trying to rebuild the coin mech system.

Hopefully it will work one day, just getting the parts won't be enough methinks...

Nick, do you have a manual for this machine? I strongly suggest you get one if this is you first Wurlitzer of this era.

This was their first 200 and was a mess in terms of wiring, but the amp also needs to be rebuilt for safe operation.

Hi, yes I do have one.
A pdf I downloaded and I am at the moment digitalizing it, typing it in a word document so that I can later easily search on words.

I looked in it, searched for the diagrams, but couldn't really find the one that had the wiring of the coin register mechanism (of the 5 prong plug). It was however the first time I had such a diagram so I might have looked over it.

As an additional question, I have the opportunity to buy a coin unit mechanism for a Wurlitzer 2100.
It is complete with outside casing and inside mechanism, is the inside mechanism interchangeable between the 2100 and the 2000 ?

Nick, I think that the 2000 & 2100 are interchangeable. Other than going from calling it a 'coin register" in the 2000 to a "Playrak" in 2100 and beyond along with a single rejector housing, they look the same.

Here are some schematics I uploaded fro you to compare:

http://s1192.photobucket.com/user/Rob-N ... rt=2&o=157

http://s1192.photobucket.com/user/Rob-N ... rt=2&o=156

really, most of this old E-M stuff can be made to integrate as long as the voltage/current type are similar.

I converted two 2300s' to use a Rowe credit unit so that they would accumulate credit.

I managed to find an online copy of the 2100 model manual, and compare the part numbers.
They are not the same, but indeed they look identical.
2100 model: Playrak, 68123
2000 model: Coin register mechanism 65791

Anyway I requested a couple of hi res photos so I can have a wee better look ;)
But indeed I think they can be used for both machines.
