Hey, Folks.
Just here to wish everyone a happy, blessed and prosperous New Year. I realize times are a bit tight for some folks out there, but I feel ya. Let's pull together and pray for those who are going through foreclosures, repo's, laid-off and still unemployed, family and friends in hospitals in critical condition, and who knows what else.
The activity has been kinda low-keyed here. Maybe you all are playing with your new Maggies or whatever acquired over the holidays or spending alot of time with family and friends. If any of you picked up an old piece of electronic, share it with us. It ain't gotta be the top of the line Curtis-Mathis (which I heard years ago, from an old board, was made from left-over RCA parts), the most powerful Maggie on the planet, GE, VM, Webcor, Sears, Monkey-ward, or whatever. I'm itching so badly to hit the thrift stores, but have no more room for any consoles....but the suspense of what may be out there is killing me.
Three stereos in the livingroom, three in the kitchen, and at least two in each of the four bedrooms. Is Animal Planet going to start a stereo hoarder series? It's a shame how those animals live and their owners are in complete denial. Well, my (in house) stereos live a good life and they aren't mistreated...gotta love them...LOL!
Hey, if you've acquired any new/old phonos over the holidays, please share with us. This isn't just a "Maggie" room. There were alot of nice consoles back in the day, including alot of nice Mono units before stereo kicked in around 1957(?). I had many given to me as a kid, and threw them away. I could kick myself.
I, personally, enjoy sharing my acquisitions over the years, and am so glad that we can come to each other's rescue to resolve some problems and issues we may encounter with our beloved vintage and/or antique units. This board is great, sharing advice from our seasoned techs to the newbies asking those redundant questions a gazillion times before reading the archives (we still love you and still answer your questions) who want to learn more about that "piece" of furniture they've acquired.
Anyhoo, wishing a healthy and prosperous New Year to my fellow board members. I hate to sound like a broken record, BUT THIS BOARD MEANS MORE TO ME THAN WORDS CAN DESCRIBE, and I'm honored to be permitted to partake in its activites, with my little contributions on the side.
My posting is just a test at the moment, due to some lack of activity, hoping it reaches everyone, but it is sincere and I wish you all blessings, happiness and prosperity. I'm truly blessed, and this is not the Forum to share that. Just a few of the MATERIAL blessings below...the other blessings go way beyond these. --BB
