Seeburg LS2 (scc8) Write in Problems

Hello Everyone!
Sorry that my first post has to be a question, But I've been trying to get my Seeburg LS2 working for months to no avail. It has the classic scans twice, plays nothing issue. When I first picked the Seeburg up off of Craigslist for $60, it worked. At some point while cleaning the cabinet out, I managed to move some of the mouse damaged wiring to the tormat selector enough to cause a short and fry the 150v 1/2 watt Zener diode and two chokes (100 and 130uh) in the SCC8 Control Center. I have recapped the entire control center, replaced the bad diode and chokes, yet the scans twice condition remains. I consistently get a voltage reading of zero at the write in source and write in return test points on the front of the control center. All other test points show correct voltages. The mouse damaged wiring has been replaced with used wiring harnesses from durfee coin-op, and the mechanism will play every selection with the battery trick. What should I look for next? All fuses have been checked and replaced as well.

A wire broken off the tormat contact block?

On all control centers using the 319021, the WI test points will normally show a zero voltage. I assume there is no stepper installed, and that the TMU is plugged directly into the TES. If that's true, check the "K" (WI) contacts in the UDPU. The chokes in that circuit are critical--where did you get replacements ( I need some !) ? If not there, you will need to gt out the schematic and follow the WI path. If you want, contact me off list, as I can check out that board, and/or SCC for you, on the Seeburg test jig. Ron Rich

The chokes came from Electronic Surplus Inc. located in Mentor, OH. I happen to live a mile away from their warehouse/showroom. The 130uh Choke had to be replaced by a 100 and 30uh choke wired in series. They are rated at 1 watt. The pricing unit was also fried, and had a number of hack looking repairs done to it in the past, including cigarette pack foil wrapped around a blown write in fuse. I replaced it with a used, working unit from ebay, that came from an LS1. Credit counting works as it should.

The Jukebox does have a stepper unit and a wallbox power supply installed, but it was completely disconnected when I got it, with the tormat connected directly to the TES. There is a terminal block on the floor of the cabinet, that has a couple of wires near it that have been cut. One is brown and the other is green. They come from the mech.

Is the blue "stepper plug" still connected to the SCC? If so, disconnect it--I have no idea what those two "wires from the mech" are doing ??

The stepper plug has been disconnected. I did happen to notice while looking under the mech today that the wiring harness coming from the tormat is extremely twisted, to the point that the individual wires look strained. Could this be a problem? Also, on closer inspection, the loose wires I mentioned earlier were coming from the terminal strip on top of the stepper. They appear to be left over from a wallbox system.

Sure--if any are broken, it will be "a problem" -- Does the TMU in fact, plug into the DES ?? yes the leftover wires are from a wall box system and should cause no problems as long as the blue plug is out of the SCC---Ron Rich

The TMU is connected directly into the TES. The stepper is completely disconnected. Should I remove the TMU and start testing every wire for continuity?
