Need help with a Motorola Calypso 3H24 portable phonograph

Well, I picked up attitude from that dude's postings.
It's obvious he seemed out to discredit servicers with his babble.
Just the fact he had to take photos of his handiwork (like I was really impressed) and post them makes me think he was seething.
HAHAHA!

Anyhoo...

I looked at his pics again...which are sorta confusing (not really). He never said he made any repairs since the stinking transformer and before posting here, and it just looks like he was showing different parts of the unit, maybe thinking about some repairs down the road. It would have been nice to see the unit, since I'm not familiar with older tube stuff from the 50's, though I do have a tube, blonde 50's Motorola console out in the garage. Phono only, maybe 38" wide. It works, but has some small issues.

On something that old, would you check ALL the semiconductors, tubes and sockets, wiring/continuity, and would it be possible to connect it to one of those (I can't think of the term...Variac?) to bring the voltage up slowly to see how things go?

I think Dmc got alittle miffed and defensive at your initial response, and then retaliated with a second post. Hopefully, he'll get over it and move on. I know you meant well, and he shouldn't have plugged in that thing. That's when inexpensive repairs become major, costing way more than the original value of a unit. --BB
