Seeburg SPS-2 DES3

by rvalkenburg » Sun Nov 09, 2014 4:01 am

I have all of the manuals for the Seeburg SPS-2 and I am unable to find what the 4 micro switches are for on the back of the DES3. I have search online and on this forum and have not been able to find any information as to what these switches are for and how they should be configured.

Any help would be appreciated.

So I figured out that that the 4 switches are for configuring groups 10, 11, 12 & 13 for Single or Album (the little plastic cover for the switch board is missing on mine which has a decal showing the switch direction) down is for singles and up is for albums.

With that said, now that I have a DTP-1 installed and I have the switches set to all singles, it finally lit up and I was able to make a selection and the mech accepted the selection ( I have no amp o I cancelled the selection). Here is the odd thing, I make 2 more selections and everything was working and then I turned around to get something and then notice the 1-Digit & Select Single lights dimming and then off. I I just recapped the DCC-4 for that unit and nothing tested out of the ordinary on the boards, before or after the recap. I put in my DCC-2 from my USC-2 and the lights cam back on and was working repeatedly, I swapped the DCC-4 back in and nothing.

I double checked the fuses and they are fine and the rest of the machine is functional e.g. the mech can be started 7 stopped manually via the service switch. So clearly there is something wrong with my DCC-4, my question now is what? Which board would I need to look at and test for that functionality? 311143-3, 311134-2 or the 311125-0?

I have narrowed it down to the 311125 board in the DCC-4. I swapped out the other 2 boards (311143 & 311134) and still no functionality to the DES3.

Capacitor question....
I know this is not causing this issue as I have swapped out the 311143 board from my DCC-2 as it is the same board on the DCC-4 but I noticed one of the small round ceramic capacitors is cracked. It is a RMC .01 20% Z5U capacitor (C3126)

So my question is.... There are many small ceramic capacitors on all 3 boards in the DCC is there a single sized cap I can get to replace them all or should I need to replace 1 for 1? Its a mix of many different sizes, .01 20% Z5U, .003 10% Z5F, .005 Z5U, etc...

The only reason I am asking is since I need to replace the 1 cracked .01 20% Z5U, can I replace the rest with the same replacement or at the end of the day not bother and just replace the one. Just want to know what I should order.

Thank you
