mute relay ami

any help will be much appreciated' i run an ami ti-2 got a slight problem that i'v not come across before
i am getting a loud crack sound through the speakers when the record is placed on the turntable and taken off again
i just get a feeling it may have something to do with the mute relay or that area anyone any ideas ( valve amp ) thanks "derek".

Hi Derek,

I assume that the amplifier fitted is a R-4359A (50 watt).
Clean the mute relay contacts using some folded copy or writing paper. I would also check or replace the plug in relay on the mechanism (carousel) R1.
It maybe an idea to look at the cut off reed switch to see if this is arcing.
