Seeburg LPC - 1 motor problem

I have owned this machine for several years and am relatively familiar with it technically. It has however just developed a problem that I need some help with. The playing speed appears to vary, so records sound like they are being played 'under water'. I have had a close look at the drive motor and it seems to be free to rotate about 90 degrees until the cables stop it . If I gently hold the motor steady the problem goes away. I can't see how the motor is retained and no parts appear to have fallen off it. Can anyone help?

The motor should be held in place by the two semicircular clamps and should not be free to rotate. It is possible that strain is being applied to the motor coupling due to deterioration of the rubber circular motor mounts that fit into the clamps. Placing a rubber plug underneath the motor to support it will help. This plug was deleted from this mechanism and several that followed.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, deterioration of the rubber mounts is clearly the problem but they are quite badly gone. New mounts are available at Stamman in Germany, they're a bit pricey but I think they may provide the best solution. Stamman also sell the rubber plug you described, do you think I should get one even though it may not have been originally fitted (the bracket is there)?

I believe Seeburg eliminated the plug as a cost reduction, since it was put back in for the LS1 and later machines. I would still consider replacing the rubber motor mounts.
