62 magnavox wont eject at end of record

by cpmag01 » Sat Nov 08, 2014 10:26 pm

Hello,
My 62 magnavox wont eject at the end of the record. I did notice that the trip under the turntable seems to be missing. I have a parts turntable but I want to know how hard it is to change the trip.

Thank you
Charlie :D

Hi Charlie,
I'm just guessing here, 'cause I never have seen one of those--
First, I would "guess" that you would not want any turntable that "ejects" records, as I think that might be hard on them ?? So I assume you are saying it does not "reject" the record at the end---
Second,
If you have a "parts unit", and you can't tell how "hard it is to change --", I would guess "too hard", and advise you to find someone who knows--hopefully someone here will know? If your mechanical "skill level" is high, I'd say --"just do it" --taking photo's-----without "bending", or "forcing" anything -- Ron Rich

If it's an M,K,L,R or S600 series model:
Most likely a bent or binding Striker Feed Lever, Striker Arm, or Drive Release Lever.
All of these changers need a mandatory thorough overhaul after decades of use.

Yes it's a 600s. I also updated it with a Stanton 400. It is a perfect fit and I can now plug it into any amp.

Charlie, if your T-T looks like this one: http://www.vinylengine.com/library/magn ... atic.shtml It is actually designed by Collaro and the service data offer there might help. You will need to register but it is free.

Matt,
Can you, or anyone, describe these M,K,L,R and S600 series changers and their differences? I've seen some odd numbers on the platter like "Micro-Sonic 90 Ultra-Tracking Turntable, but never came accross or saw any references to those different series. Maybe it's in my repair manuals and overlooked it. I apologize for any misinformation previously given. --BB

The details of the various changers are partly cosmetic, partly mechanical, and covered in the Magnavox Service Literature - which is way too much to type out here.

Thanks, Matt.

They are all so similar inspite of their cosmetic differences. I know the newer models have only one idler wheel for speed and record changing. I haven't investigated to see what series I actually have, but gotta love em anyway with the different models that I have. --BB
