Introduction and a starter question (Wurlitzer 3700) - FIXED MY PICTURES!

by drscottsmith » Thu Dec 03, 2015 3:20 am

Hello all -

New Juke owner here (Wurlitzer Americana). My name is Scott and I am located in Duncan ,SC - in the upstate between Greenville and Spartanburg. All of my experience thus far has been in the pinball (EM and SS world) and video games. This is my first venture into the world of Jukes, after a buddy picked this up in a group by and gave it to me for going to help him load everything up.

So, It does turn on, but the amplifier was taken out when we got it. My guess is something is not working correctly. Based on my reading thus far, it is a revision 'C' unit, as it has fuses added to the outputs of each amplifier.

I am hoping that someone will help me verify this, and visually let me know if there is anything else wrong. I am also looking for guidance in the best way to power this up to check operation (or even bench test it), as I understand that the way these are designed, problems early in the circuitry can quickly travel down the line and cause further damage.

Thanks in advance - I am sure there are more questions to come.

-scott

Hi Scott,
Check on flippers.com--he has a lot of postings on this amp--or you can also email him, after you check his site--

Scott, here are two reasonbly clear schematics:

Since the amp itself has no transformers for either power or output, those boxes and their harness must be removed for bench testing.

While this old doc' is intended for Seeburg amps, it is a good primer for testing older electronics with discrete components:
