Rob's nailed it--I usually find that the credit wheel is sluggish, when I encounter this problem--20 wt ND oil can be "worked" into the credit wheel shaft, in most cases, without dis-assembly. The simple test for this, with power OFF, "pull" the cancel coil plunger in--if it does NOT "snap back", the problem is the wheel--
Another thing that is fairly common--the internal "return springs" in the latch bar solenoid are broken off, and lodge inside the plunger area. Same type, power off, test applies here--if this is the problem, usually you can "shake out" the broken parts-and it will function OK--if not, a replacement solenoid is called for--Ron Rich
