Here's a photo showing the sound box in the proper position for playing standard type 78 rpm records in which the groove is modulated sideways and can be played using a conventional steel (or thorn, cactus, bamboo, etc.) needle --
As can be seen in the photos you provided, the sound box on your Silvertone phonograph is positioned with the mica diaphragm facing toward the front of the cabinet--instead of to the side, as in the above photo. That position is for playing Edison Diamond Discs (with a special diamond stylus) or Pathe discs (with a special ball-shaped sapphire stylus). Both types of records employed vertical modulation in which the recorded groove bobbed up and down.
I'm not sure what the exact part you need is called, but if you get in touch with one or more of the repair shops I referred you to in the above post, and tell them that you need
"an L-shaped adapter for playing standard lateral 78s on a Silvertone phonograph," and send them a few photos of your machine, they
should know what you are talking about.
If an L-shaped adapter is not available as a separate component, they may be able to sell you a complete replacement tone arm. You will need one that is gold colored or plated to match your machine.
As for the turntable pad, they may have velvet in stock. If not, they should be able to supply you with a felt cover.
