I soldered the 0.1uF 50 V cap onto the cancel switch terminals and spent the afternoon cleaning up the work bench.
Over the course of many selections I had only 1 cancellation. This is a significant difference over the, albeit infrequent cancellations, (but frequent enough to make this conclusion), that I had before installing the cap.
If voltage spikes are causing this, perhaps a higher capacitance value would have dampened the spike that caused the single cancellation.
Maybe, if anyone is going to try this, try a 0.22uf or a 0.47uF or even a 1.0 uF.
